I didn't have to wait too long for the undead mob to move on.
I even managed to get some sleep until about 3 in the morning, I was suddenly woken by a huge explosion followed by screaming and shouting.
I rushed to the window and cracked the curtains just enough to see a group of people, maybe about 15 or so, I don't know.. running along the street.
I moved to the door of the pub and opened it slowly and watched as they turned the corner and ran in the direction of a group of zombies
I closed the door and went back inside the Winchester and hid my bag behind the bar, I have no idea why I did what I did next but I left the pub and started to follow everyone else.
I walked along the path watching the crowd, making sure that I was far enough behind them to not get caught in a human stampede should things go tits up, I turned the corner just in time to see what I think was a 4x4 drive headlong into one of the zombie horde, cutting them down as if they were mannequins..
For a split second everything stopped as everyone took in what had just happened.
Without hesitation the remaining zombies turned and started toward the 4x4, I heard its engine splutter and start, only to cut out again,
Seeing the passengers of the jeep in trouble the crowd I had followed started to throw bricks, wood and anything else they could get hold of at the undead horde..
Petrol bombs included.
The onslaught on the undead was useless as they gathered around the 4x4 and started banging on it, I`m sure I heard breaking glass followed by screaming.. Then nothing..
Suddenly the sound of gunfire pierced the night as a woman and a man pushed past me carrying shotguns, this seemed to give some members of the crown new vigour as they ran at the zombies
This wasn't an organised attack on the Z horde, this was a riot.
I slowly started to move backwards, away from the crowd and the Z`s.
Something didn't feel right.
The zombies continued in the direction of the crowd, unmoved by the sight of their companions being cut down, that was it, I turned round and ran as fast as I could back to the Winchester, slamming and bolting the large wooden doors behind me
Panic filled the air as people turned and ran but it was too late, I watched through a window as the Z`s caught people who couldn't get away fast enough, tearing them apart as though they were nothing more than paper dolls,
I had to get out as soon as possible.
I watched in horror as a small boy ran from his cover only to be spotted by one of the undead. It opened its mouth wide and let out an unearthly scream
Three or four zombies turned and started to run in the direction of the screaming, it didnt take a lot to catch the boy, there was nothing I could have done, nothing, but that was the break I needed.
I grabbed my bag from behind the bar, opened the door and ran, I ran faster than I ever had ran before, turning the corner I headed in the direction of the car I had abandoned earlier the day before.
Climbing in I twisted the key in the ignition, the car started first time, I put the car in gear and pressing hard on the accelerator and I was away.
I have no idea how long I drive for. I just kept going until the car stuttered to a halt.
The sun was high in the sky and for the first time in god knows how long I could hear the birds singing.
The images of the night before replayed through my head as I sat staring out into nowhere, I have no idea how long I was sat in the car before it hit me that I had been in the same place for too long.
I grabbed my bag from the back seat, got out of the car and started to walk up the road.
